Sixth Form

Welcome to the Magdalen Sixth Form510 instagram

We’re excited to introduce you to our Sixth Form at Magdalen College School, Brackley.

We know that the two years after GCSE are a vital period in a student’s life. It’s during those two years that you begin to specialise in your studies and start looking to your future. We recognise that during Year 12 and 13 young people start to work out ‘the person you’re going to be in the world’.

Joining Magdalen Sixth Form is taking the next step in your education and personal development. As a ‘people-focused school’ we are committed to developing every individual to be the best possible version of themselves in a culture where everyone matters.

There are two parts to our provision for every student: in terms of academic learning and study we offer a wide range of courses delivered by subject specialists so that you will gain new knowledge and skills; and your personal development is supported through the pastoral programme, tutoring and mentoring, PCSHE, Careers and University advice and the chance to take part in enrichment activities from sports, performing arts, and volunteering to student leadership, overseas trips and the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Students who graduate from the Magdalen Sixth Form are well-rounded young people with great qualifications and brilliant skills to shape the world ahead of them. It’s our privilege to work with these young people every day, and we can’t wait for you to be one of our Sixth Form.

Our core ethos is to support students to find out who they want to be in the world and our “Personal development curriculum”, which runs alongside our academic curriculum, is integral to that. Students will take the EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) or the Waynflete Scholarship as part of their studies and also have dedicated PSHCE lessons. Alongside this students are offered a variety of opportunities to enhance their sixth form experience. All students will attend a number of visits throughout their time in sixth form from UCAS fairs, Apprenticeship fayre, World Challenge, Music trips, Science trips and Duke of Edinburgh award

All students are expected to do a week of work experience in Year 12 this is an important opportunity for students to enhance their CV but also to experience the world of work outside their comfort zone.

We work in partnership with many local organisations such as British Legion to raise awareness whilst supporting the community. Students are given the opportunity to become a Holocaust Ambassador in year 12 and to work with Kenyan charity Nasio.
