OfSTED Report

Our Ofsted report can be found here on the Ofsted website.

Below is a also copy of the Ofsted report resulting from their recent inspection of our school. You will see that the inspectors found areas of real concern and have determined that we require ‘Special Measures’ to address these.

Below are copies of the slides used at the parent meeting on June 23rd, and the ‘Executive Summary’ section of our Rapid Action Plan. This plan guides our first responses to the inspection in the six months from June to December.

All areas of the plan are important, but we have moved more quickly on those that were most ‘critical’ to the everyday operation of the school. As such we have made some very fast improvements to the safeguarding concerns, many of which related to access to the St John’s (or ‘bottom’ site). We have also adapted our approach to behaviour and consequences, taking on best practice from Bartholomew School in the EPA trust. We are pleased to see a change already and will continue raising these expectations from September.

As we secure higher expectations and standards of behaviour in all classrooms, we are then moving on to work on the ‘Quality of Education’ sections.

I know that you will have concerns, and all want us to provide the very best for every student as quickly as possible. Strong partnership with parents and carers is essential on this journey and we welcome your feedback and challenge.

Our next meeting for parents will be at 6pm on Tuesday July 15th in Waynflete Hall. We intend this to be an opportunity to update you on our actions to date against the Rapid Action Plan and outline how we plan to start the new academic year in September. Several people have suggested they would like to hear from colleagues across the Senior Leadership Team and Governors. To get the most from this meeting we are inviting you to share questions using this online form. The form will be open until 5pm next Friday (4th July).

We understand that quite a large number of parents are keen to form a group to work with us as we move forward. We are engaging in some early conversations to explore how we can make this work best and will share more details soon.

In addition to all the above, please do contact us using the normal channels with any questions or concerns as they arise.

We would like to take this opportunity to reassure you that we are committed to making the necessary developments to ensure that Magdalen College School provides the high-quality experience our local community both desires and deserves.
