GCSE results

Almost 250 students received GCSE results at Magdalen College School this morning. The school were delighted to welcome this cohort to collect their results in ‘Godwin’s Coffee Shop’ part of our newly refurbished Sixth Form Centre. Many of the students will be spending lots of their time here as they move into the Magdalen Sixth Form.

Reflecting on the results Tom Hollis (Headteacher) said: "We’re really proud of our Year 11 students as they collect these hard-earned results this morning. In an Olympic year it’s worth remembering that studying and sitting exams across 10 subjects is a decathlon-like challenge. Different students will have relative strengths and aptitudes across their curriculum, and we ask them to make sure they achieve the best they can in all areas. The results show how they have developed their knowledge and skills throughout their studies. Like the Olympians we have been watching in Paris, these students have been supported by so many others. In praising the students I also want to thank the parents, carers, families and our whole staff here at Magdalen. This is very much a team effort. We don’t like to obsess about numbers or percentages here - we recognise that success looks different for every student, but I want to give a special message of congratulations to our GCSE German group. They have achieved a really fantastic set of results which complement our recent International Schools Award. Fantastiche!

As well as celebrating today, students are confirming their next steps in education and training. We’re thrilled so many are staying with us at Magdalen but also look forward to hearing about success at college and in apprenticeships. They have been a special year group who have supported each other over the last five years. We wish them all the best for their exciting futures."

A-Level results

Magdalen Sixth Form students celebrate on results day August 15, 2024 - Students, staff and parents gathered at Magdalen College School this morning to celebrate the release of A Level results. Headteacher, Tom Hollis, said: "We are delighted with the achievements of each and every one of our Year 13. After two years of study the students have met the demanding challenge of A Level exams and demonstrated their knowledge and skills.

The journey to those exams is different for each young person and every individual has faced their own challenges and battles. We are proud of their determination and excited to hear about their next steps: in employment; starting apprenticeships or embarking on ‘gap’ year adventures. The majority of students are taking up further study at a wide range of universities. We look forward to hearing about their experiences whether they are staying local at Northampton; branching out to other regions of the UK; heading for Russell Group establishments or starting life in an Oxford College.

Our Year 13 have made huge contributions to the school and wider community alongside their studies. We are delighted to send them off into a world they will help to make better for us all. We are proud of the young people they have become."
